Mom Deserves a Vacation Enter your response A Mega-Prompt Read published entries  "Huh?" you think, "how do you know my mother, and who are you to be telling us what she deserves... or not"? Then she proceeds to fill the class in on the details of a new writing contest just announced by a local travel agency. "The prize... a free, all expenses paid trip to anywhere in the world for the whole family". It's taken a few minutes, but the wheels have started to turn slowly in your mind and the fog is beginning to lift. Another random thought floats aimlessly through your head, "8:00am is way to early for a creative writing class". The bell rings signaling that class is over and its time to move on. But you're still thinking about the writing contest. Grudgingly, you accept the fact that your mother, more than any other, really does qualify for this award. But is it worth the effort of writing an essay just for the teeny, tiny, chance that it might be selected for consideration. "That's a whole lot of work for the most likely outcome... rejection. Then again, it would be fun... even if the whole family has to come along." Math starts, but you're not listening... the pencil flies across page one of the old wire notebook.
