Over time, the industrialized society that we now live in, has shifted it's focus from water to oil. Every ancient civilizations had one thing in common. They were established close to a natural resource that people couldn't live without ... water. Without the Nile River, for example, the ancient Egyptians wouldn't have been able to survive in the harsh, desert environment that surrounded them.
Today's world depends on a different kind of liquid that people can't seem to live without... oil. This non-renewable resource and its by-products affects so much of our life, how we travel, how we get our food, what we wear, etc. The list goes on and on. But there is only so much oil. Eventually, it will all be gone. Share your thoughts on oil, a non-renewable natural resource. What would life be like without it? Should we be planning now for a future without it? Think of some ideas that may help conserve our use of this important resource along with some creative "alternative energy" solutions that may reduce our dependency on it in the future. Does the catastrophe involving the huge oil spill that happened recently in the Gulf of Mexico change your mind in any way with regards to oil and how dependent we are on its production. |
